Three Australian Design Centre exhibitions converge at Hazelhurst Arts Centre this summer for a celebration of craft and design.

Showcasing jewellery, ceramics, and objects from over 90 artists and designers, these major ADC On Tour exhibitions highlight the art of design and mastery of contemporary craft practice.

The first exhibition presents an outstanding body of work by one of Australia’s greatest artists working in clay, acclaimed ceramicist Prue Venables and is entitled Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft \ Prue Venables.

Multi-award winning Venables shows a true mastery of her materials, demonstrating a profound understanding of porcelain, the most precious and temperamental of clays. Her handmade functional artworks possess clarity, lightness, and a quiet beauty, employing subtle exaggerations and a minimal colour palette to create a distinct visual language.

Made / Worn: Australian Contemporary Jewellery, presents 22 renowned contemporary jewellers working in Australia now, including Blanche Tilden, Maree Clarke, Catherine Truman and Zoë Veness.

Profile: Contemporary Jewellery and Object Award is produced by Australian Design Centre in partnership with the Jewellery and Metalsmiths Group of Australia – NSW Inc. Highlighting contemporary jewellers and object designers 73 were shortlisted for the 2022 Award. Works featured consider concepts from the personal to the topical, crafted across a wide range of materials, from precious gold to plastic waste.

Hazelhurst Arts Centre Director, Belinda Hanrahan, said that this partnership with Australian Design Centre will bring innovative contemporary design to the community.

“We are so pleased to partner with Australian Design Centre to bring three leading design exhibitions to the community. The innovative works on show highlight the boundless possibilities of contemporary design,” Ms Hanrahan said.
