Dinosaur Designs – Louise Olsen & Stephen Ormandy
Dinosaur Designs was created in 1985 out of a shared love of art, design and friendship. When we started as art students, there were no expectations, only a sense that we wanted to make something people would love. More than 30 years later, that’s still true for both of us.
Curiosity and imagination are central to our work and fuel a sense of play that blurs boundaries to create a philosophy of colour, form and texture. We want to share that philosophy and enrich people’s lives through the pieces we create.
Our resin pieces are made by hand in our Sydney studio, it’s at the heart of what we do. The viscous fluidity of resin allows us to cross the boundaries of sculpture and painting to create pieces we think of as visual poetry. Each bowl, vessel and piece of jewellery is a 3D poem that can be read by touch. We discover so much during the process of creating each new piece that experimentation and innovation are constant.
Working in design is a wonderful privilege and a great way to study the world.
