Nikita Majajas

A trained silversmith and jeweller with ten years industry experience, Nikita Margarita has a deep and abiding passion for art and fashion. She has been enamoured with the world of wearable art and craft since arriving in Japan in the late nineties and finding herself smack bang in the middle of a street fashion explosion.

Doodad and Fandango encapsulates her love for colour and pop art in the medium of fantastic plastic. It is inspired by the costume jewellery heyday of the 1930s to 1950s, when metal was scarce and new materials like bakelite and galalite were being used to create fun and irreverent jewellery. The meticulously inlaid pieces are made of Perspex, which is hard wearing, and has the look and feel of resin. Inspired by contemporary artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Keith Haring and Haruki Murakami, her playful pieces are hand assembled in Sydney.
