Recipient of the Australian Design Centre’s 2008 Living Treasure Award, textile artist Liz Williamson is an internationally respected weaver and educator.

An invaluable figure in the contemporary craft culture of Australia, Liz has been fundamental in modernising weaving without doing away with the practice’s historical roots. With her work being represented in most major public collections throughout Australia, including the National Gallery of Australia and the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, as well as her roles as Associate Professor and course convener for textiles at the University of New South Wales, her practice and legacy will be recognised, and thrive, well into the future.
