When David Mac Laren’s workspace burnt to the ground in 1999, he lost everything; machinery, hand tools, jigs, timber and furniture in the making. At the time, he decided not to re-build immediately, but devote himself to further establishing the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery and collaborative partnerships.

David found visiting makers in their studios to explore concepts and making methodologies rewarding and has continued to enjoy this process. The Art of Making, gave David the opportunity to collaborate with four studio woodworkers including; Jim Homann, Thirston Morris, Christopher Neal, Mitchell McNamara-Rice.

David is the director and founder of Bungendore Wood Works Gallery, located in the Queanbeyan Region of NSW.
