The starting point for Wine and Whiskey Cabinet was a section of King Billy pine that Raf Nathan describes as ‘almost perfect in its grain pattern and colour’. Aside from expressing the best qualities of the timber, he feels pieces like this are imbued with the woodworker’s spirit.

A woodworker for more than 25 years, Raf’s casual hobby evolved into a weekend market stall and after a number of years grew to running a small workshop with two employees. Woodworking is no longer his main livelihood but it is still his creative outlet and source of enjoyment.
