Layers

Layers was developed using shibori, an ancient Japanese resist dye technique which was then reworked into a unique textile artwork.

While initially appearing quite precise, the unpredictable nature of the shibori processes employed means that final patterns are always subtly varied. There is an infinite number of ways one can bind, stitch, fold or compress cloth for shibori. Within Layers, an exploration of rhythm, experimentation, repetition and pattern can be seen.

Barbara Rogers is a Sydney based textile designer with over 20 years’ experience in textile design and fashion and completed Dress Design at the National Art School, Sydney. Barbara has exhibited nationally and internationally over the past 25 years and has work in a number of private and international collections.
