About

We are a leading centre for contemporary craft and design in Australia. We play a critical role in building a significant design culture for this country by nurturing a nation of innovative makers and thinkers to use design in their lives.

ADC developed a Strategic Framework: First Nations Engagement 2023–2027 (‘the Framework’) to provide practical and ethical guidelines to support our commitment to First Nations art, craft and design across the organisation, including the Board, staff, creatives, community, audiences, partners and collaborators.

1964 –

We are a highly agile and adaptable organisation that has taken a leadership role in the contemporary craft and design sector since it first opened in 1964 as the NSW Crafts Council. Here is a collection of stories that explore some of the histories of ADC with spotlights on collaborations and touring, design criticality, global, Indigenous, innovation and technology.
