Bequests
Leave a gift in your will
You can make a lasting contribution to the future of craft and design in Australia by making a bequest to Australian Design Centre in your Will.
A gift in your Will, will help us to support makers and designers and enable future generations to access and explore contemporary craft and design through exhibitions, touring, publishing, events, and creative projects we develop.
A bequest made to Australian Design Centre however large or small, will make an enormous difference. Your bequest can be made in your own name, or to honour a friend or family member. We will respect your desire to remain anonymous if that is your preference.
You will also enjoy a close association with Australian Design Centre through the The Jane Burns Giving Circle of supporters.
How to make a bequest
The most useful type of bequest is a monetary gift that can be used for the immediate programming and operational needs of Australian Design Centre.
If you are considering giving a specific bequest project, please contact us to discuss your idea.
Types of bequests
There are several ways to leave a bequest including:
- Percentage of Estate bequest – a percentage of the value of your estate made to a particular person or organisation, such as Australian Design Centre
- Bequest – a specified amount of money from your estate made to a particular organisation
- Residual bequest – the remainder of your estate after the general and specific bequests have been paid.
Suggested wording to include in your Will:
I give to the Australian Design Centre (ABN: 42002 037 881)
(Insert appropriate gift option)
- The whole of my estate; or
- the sum of $..........; or
- …% percentage of the rest and the residue of my Estate.
for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of an authorised representative of the said organisation shall be sufficient discharge to my Trustee(s).
If you have already made a Will and wish to modify it to include a gift to ADC, a Codicil (amendment) allows you to modify the terms of the original Will without having to change the whole document.
Australian Design Centre recommends you seek professional advice from your solicitor and financial advisor when arranging your bequest.
How we recognise bequests
If you have decided to leave Australian Design Centre a bequest, please notify us by sending a copy or relevant extract of your Will, or a letter confirming your bequest from a solicitor.
We would be delighted to acknowledge your name on the Supporters Board in the Centre, ADC website and in the Annual Report. While we would love to publicly thank you for your generosity, we will also respect your wish to remain anonymous if that is your preference. Please get in touch to discuss your bequest.
