Mel Douglas
Winner of both the prestigious Ranamok Glass Prize, and the Tom Malone Prize, Mel Douglas is one of Australia’s most dynamic and well-respected glass artists.
With a fascination for how objects balance and sit in space, her delicate work comes from the slow process of mark making that is influenced by the object’s physical and linear relationships. Exhibiting in Australia, the United States, Italy and Singapore throughout her career, Douglas’s work has been featured in numerous international publications and is included in permanent museum collections at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, and the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. Along with her practice, Douglas also teaches and mentors young glass artists.
