Oliver Smith

A celebrated silversmith, Oliver Smith is an object maker whose practice embraces art, craft and design. Handmade cutlery, commissions for Vice-Regal occasions, designs for production, and a range of contemporary art projects all launch from this artisan’s bench. Swinging a hammer, collaborating in an expanded cultural context, and leading visual arts education, Smith embodies creativity.

Oliver Smith is a Senior Lecturer at the Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, and served on the Australian Design Centre Board for six years with his term ending in May this year.  

Oliver has made his mark as a silversmith, an exceptional member of the craft community and as an educator.  Australian Design Centre acknowledges his fantastic contribution.
