As a multidisciplinary artist, Lisa Waup utilises many different mediums and materials and this exploration is an important part of her practice. Both natural and found objects speak to her of their stories and memory, which she uses to explain the meaning of her stories, in different ways.
The woven elements in Lisa’s work feature stitching – the red stitching symbolises family and bloodlines. Stitching also expresses the reconnection of lost history and family and reinforces bonds, materially, spiritually and symbolically.
