Curatorial Notes: Lisa Cahill
Curatorial Notes: Lisa Cahill
"The project began by way of an experiment. At Easter time in the midst of lockdown in Sydney, I thought what if we were to send 100 journals to 100 creative people and ask them to document something of their time during Iso (as of today this is a word!) in an analogue as opposed to digital form – a modest sketchbook fit for purpose."
Made a list (hasty but I think well considered) of creative people; designers, makers, thinkers, curators.
...
Wrote a brief.
...
Asked three questions.
...
Send us a photo of you holding the journal. A few replied. That’s progress I thought.
...
Outed the project on instagram posting the photos. It’s a real thing now!
...
A few journals returned in the reply paid envelope. Blank. Oh dear. Perhaps no one will want to take part.
...
First completed journal arrives in the post. Contemporary Artist Louise Weaver sends us a painting. Bright yellow, red and orange leap off the pages. I am so grateful that she has taken the time to do this. It is a bright spot in an otherwise fairly bleak time.
