Shan Shan Mok

"My health is not good these 7 years, it is caused by several reasons. In the beginning, I was trying a lot of methods to improve my health, but as time goes by, I have noticed that my health will never be the same as it was; I have to live with it. I want to express this complex feeling in this jewellery series. ‘Shan Shan’ is my Chinese name. The word ‘Shan’ means coral in Chinese. My jewellery and objects have been inspired by form, movement and the different stages of coral’s life cycle. It is an important metaphor to express my life experiences."

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Sydney, Shan Shan Mok is a jewellery artist, designer and tutor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Jewellery and Object Design from The University of Sydney, Sydney College of the Arts in 2006 and Honours in 2010.
