Zoë Veness

"The concept of wayfaring refers to an unhurried sense of travelling akin to walking through time and place. By creating these forms, I am perpetually relearning about the transformative potential of metal. New technical and aesthetic enquiries open up with the making of each design. Metals from previous works are reused and the surfaces of the containers are often reworked till a desirable outcome is achieved."

Zoë Veness is a contemporary jewellery artist and design lecturer at the School of Art & Design, University of New South Wales in Sydney. She studied classical ballet at the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne and design at UNSW graduating with a PhD in 2015. Her work has been selected for international exhibitions and is held in private and public collections including the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of South Australia. She lives at Callala Beach on Yuin Country, south of Sydney.
