Layers was developed using shibori, an ancient Japanese resist dye technique which was then reworked into a unique textile artwork.

While initially appearing quite precise, the unpredictable nature of the shibori processes employed means that final patterns are always subtly varied. There is an infinite number of ways one can bind, stitch, fold or compress cloth for shibori. Within Layers, an exploration of rhythm, experimentation, repetition and pattern can be seen.
