These works were inspired by the restoration of a cane and birch Alvar Aalto Artek Model 45 armchair. David has collaborated with master paper cord and cane weaver and furniture restorer, Adam Stewart of Modanest, and Maddy King of Maddy King Designs to use traditional vegetable tanned hide for the day bed.

About David Muston

David aims to make simple, elegant, and functional objects that demonstrate his love of precision, the beauty of wood and the philosophy of ‘less but better’. He has long had an interest and passion for modernism and designing furniture for modernist houses. He has learnt from and worked with some legendary Australian names including woodworker Les Miller and architect Glenn Murcutt.
