Beth Sanderson is an artist and contemporary jeweller based in Melbourne/Naarm. She works primarily with steel and vitreous enamels to create wearable and performance-based works exploring the ritual of routine.

Utensil is an exploration of value and connection to functional objects. It consists of five components, the clip that would fasten to a belt or waistband and four tools (grater, measuring cup, mould, and press) which hang from steel chains. By contrasting this outdated form and the ancient jewellery technique of enamelling with familiar, functional forms the piece questions how value is assigned to objects.

Beth Sanderson is Robert Baines’s nominee for Treasures.

Beth's practice examines everyday and mundane objects with the aim of finding poetry in moments often overlooked. Beth holds an Advanced Diploma in Jewellery and Object Design from Melbourne Polytechnic and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours at RMIT in 2023 where she received the Emily Hope Award for figurative works (2022).
