Laura Deakin

Laura Deakin is a contemporary jewellery artist living in Naarm/Melbourne. Since the completion of her studies, Laura’s work has received numerous awards. She has been accepted into the prestigious Munich exhibition ‘Schmuck’ on four occasions, including for her most recent body of work, Mygration, Yourgration, Ourgration.

Laura explores the concept of home and how it shapes our experiences in a new place. Using acrylic sheets and watercolour paint she creates vulnerable, open-to-interpretation pieces. The pieces also address the risks and challenges of migration.

Laura Deakin is Marian Hosking’s nominee for Treasures.
