Seed Stitch Contemporary Textile Awards 2018
Exhibition: Friday 5 October – Wednesday 14 November 2018
Seed Stitch Collective (SSC), in partnership with Australian Design Centre (ADC), is calling for submissions from NSW textile artists to take part in the inaugural Seed Stitch Contemporary Textile Awards (SSCTA) to be exhibited at ADC during Sydney Craft Week.
The Seed Stitch Collective originated in 2016 after the first SSCTA was hosted at the Warringah Creative Arts Space. Founder, Soraya Abidin, had an egalitarian mission to create opportunities for Sydney artists and makers working with textiles, and broaden public awareness around the quality and diversity in the genre. The event is independently funded and co-ordinated by the core members of the collective – Soraya Abidin, Sky Carter, Suzanne Davey, Niki McDonald and Emma Peters.
SSCTA seek submissions from textile artists at any stage of their career residing in NSW, and is an open competition aimed at recognising highly skilled and diverse NSW textile artists.
