Australian Design Centre's boutique outdoor Makers Market is back for the first time in 2019 as part of the Sydney Design Festival on Saturday 9 March. Come and enjoy the friendly local street market atmosphere under the big marquee as we close off Palmer Street (between Barnett Lane and Stanley Street), near the ADC forecourt, Darlinghurst.
The ADC Makers Market features 27 local artists that have been selected for their exceptional work. This is set to be our biggest market yet! You’ll find handmade, designed and collectible pieces for sale by the makers and we will even have weaving demonstrations by Studio A artists.
We are delighted to welcome back some of our favourites and introduce a selection of new makers to the market.
Delicious food and coffee will be on site provided by The Crepe & Coffee Co. They specialise in savoury and sweet crepes and serve up Columbian coffee – so don’t forget your Keep Cup (or buy one from one of our ceramicists at the market!)
ADC will also be hosting a second-hand art/craft/design book stall, with all proceeds going towards our fundraising. Grab a great book for a great price and help support ADC to deliver our exhibitions, education and public programs.
The Centre will be open all day so you can catch the latest exhibition Steel: art design architecture, a major touring exhibition from Adelaide’s JamFactory. Also, be sure to check out all the beautiful items in Object Shop - the Design Centre's retail space supporting over 80 makers and designers. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to mingle with the makers, hear the stories about why and how they make and perhaps take a little bit of their work home to enjoy.
