Staying in Sydney these holidays? We’ve rounded up our selection of the best exhibitions in town that we’re planning to visit over the break and perhaps a short train or road trip a little further afield.

After Christmas we’re going to immerse ourselves in the fantastical world of Nick Cave in Until at Carriageworks.

Another visit to the cool of the Art Gallery of New South Wales to see William Kentridge’s fascinating and thought provoking work is a must and White Rabbit’s current show Supernatural before it closes in early February.

Can’t wait to see the Sydney Living Museums exhibition How Cities Work at the Museum of Sydney and Ideal Home at Penrith Regional Gallery.

The Museum of Arts and Applied Sciences has two shows that are essential to experience – Akira and Fantastical Worlds

Compass at the Museum of Contemporary Art is amazing and worth a visit. It places the work of Indigenous and non-Indigenous women artists in dialogue.

Head up the Pacific Highway to see our ADC on Tour exhibition Obsessed: Compelled to make at Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery.

Designing Bright Futures our exhibition of work from new graduating designers continues at Australian Design Centre from 8 – 23 January 2019.
