We’ve had a great start to 2025 with a full program of events and exhibitions planned for the year ahead.

Over the summer so many people visited the Centre to see Vipoo Srivilasa’s monumental ceramic work in re/JOY and R K Collective’s impressive social design project Crafted Liberation.  From what I hear we also had lots of visitors to Sydney stop and admire John Tuckwell’s porcelain work in the Object Space window gallery.

Upcoming is ADC’s collaboration with JMGA-NSW and 107 finalists in PROFILE 2025: JMGA-NSW Contemporary Jewellery and Object Award. We’re also delighted to present the Robert Foster Metal Prize produced by our friends at Craft + Design Canberra.

It’s Mardi Gras time in Sydney and to celebrate we're presenting cardboard king Jeff McCann's gorgeous colourful installation PLAY.

For the past several months I’ve been working in the background with Helen Britton to curate work for an exhibition at Galerie Handwerk in Munich. Alongside the work of NZ artists curated by the Dowse Museum, will be contemporary jewellery and objects by 19 Australia artists for an exhibition entitled The Familiar in the Foreign. This was an excellent opportunity for the artists to have work in Munich for the Schmuck munchen international contemporary jewellery festival which ADC was privileged to curate.

Unfortunately, my grant winning powers did not seem to be working as Creative Australia did not award an international project grant – funding which would have enabled some of the artists to travel and take part in this international event.  Funding aside, a big thank you to Galerie Handwerk who have enabled the artists’ work to be presented on this international stage.

A reminder to all the creatives that applications are still open for the Regional Arts NSW exhibition opportunities and MAKE Award: Biennial Prize for Innovation in Australian Craft and Design.

Join us this weekend Friday 28 February (4-7pm) and Saturday 1 March (11-3pm) for the big indoor makers marketplace, a celebration of making before we begin installing the new exhibitions.

Happy Mardi Gras!
