“Good design and architecture has a pivotal role in reducing the effects of poverty.”

We are saddened by the news that Paul Pholeros, architect and co-director of Healthabitat, passed away last week. His work over the past 17 years has seen his organisation deliver 180 Housing for Health projects in order to reduce poverty in regional communities in Australia and internationally.

Paul's innovative work will also be remembered through the success of CUSP: Designing into the Next Decade, which reached over 50,000 people around Australia between 2013-2015, educating them about the power of design to improve disadvantaged communities.

Healthabitat's project partners Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) have almost reached their goal of raising $100K through the Nepal Rotary Village Development Project to help villagers in their recovery since the earthquake. They are still taking donations which are tax deductible, and we thought you may like to contribute in Paul’s memory.

We will remember his work, dedication and humanity for many years to come.
